Imagination Design Marathon @ The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art

Are you a local artist, architect, designer or creativde? Then you’re invited to participate in Winston-Salem’s first-ever, Imagination Design Marathon to be held at SECCA on Saturday, June 2 from 9 am – 3 pm.  The Marathon is a day of collaborative design to imagine a public art installation that will capture and share our communitiy’s collective dreams.  We’ll work together in teams of five to sketch and brainstorm ideas for the art installations. It will be an opportunity to remind ourselves that creating is fun. The resulting works will be displayed at a public art exhibit.

The Imagination Installations Project launched in the Fall of 2011 so it’s time to celebrate!  Join us in front of the Yoga Gallery in the Arts District of downtown Winston-Salem during October’s 1st Friday Gallery Hop.

We come together on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm to brainstorm projects and move them forward. Our next meeting will take place at Krankies Coffee in downtown Winston-Salem at the corner of 3rd Street and Patterson.  Please reach out to Cheryl Schirillo,, if you plan on attending.

Right now our work includes:

Designing and implementing Dream Incubation Parties (aka Micro-granting Events),

Working on plans and fundraising for our next interactive, public art installations,

Hands-on creation of tiny art boxes to hold dreams for Art-o-mat machines throughout the United States.

Every meeting also includes dream activation exersizes and sharing Imagine When… statements.
